John Naughton & Mike Highfield presenting George his 40-year service award at the 2023 Session.

I first met George in 2015 as a first-year student at GSBLSU.  It took no time at all to learn that he saw every single student of his as an individual.  He took the time to get to know everyone on a personal level, and it was obvious that he cared for each of us and our careers.  That was just who George Schloegel was.

When the concept of the “George A. Schloegel Memorial Scholarship” was presented, Hancock Whitney Corp. President & CEO, John Hairston, told me that while George would be both honored and humbled by the idea of a scholarship in his name, he would not want it to be funded from the revenue generated to run the school.  He suggested that funds be set aside in an investment account, utilizing its earnings for the award.  That’s just what we did and that’s what we will continue to do.

Thank you for your consideration in contributing to the George A. Schloegel Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 225 747-0747.
