Welcome to the Graduate School of Banking 2013 Session

2013 GSBLSU session

The 64th session of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University is officially underway!  It’s an exciting time as we get to see familiar faces, and welcome 180 new students to the program.  In total, there are 517 students participating in our program this year, and we welcome them all.

With one of the nation’s most thorough and challenging graduate banking programs available, all new sessions at GSBLSU bring great possibility for students.  In the past, more than 15,000 students have come through the program and have had associations with banks ranging from under $100 million to over $100 billion in assets.  The networking possibilities and knowledge gained lay the foundation for alumni to continue on to highly successful careers.

The 2013 session seems to be on track to be particularly successful.  In addition to the 180 incoming freshmen, we proudly welcome back 182 juniors and 155 seniors.  Additionally, 17 new Mexican bankers are enrolled in the school this year.  As always, we are proud to have a collection of qualified and highly respected faculty from a variety of backgrounds.  Our administration includes:

Head of Administration – John Jordan, President of the Community Bank of East Tennessee

President – Watts Steger, Chairman and CEO of Betetourt Bankshares

Chairman of the Board – Bradley Barrett , President of the Tennessee Bankers Assocation

Chairman Elect – Mac Deaver, President of the Mississippi Bankers Association

As the session continues, we look forward to the opportunity to get to know all of our students.  Several events will give everyone the opportunity to interact and make new connections.  To keep abreast of all that is happening here at GSBLSU, be sure to check out our Red Stick Times which is published every weekday morning of the session.  Copies may be downloaded through the website or picked up inside the cafeteria lobby.

We would like to extend a sincere welcome to all new students, and welcome back to all returning students.  We hope to make this the best session yet at GSBLSU.  And for potential students, we hope we may get the opportunity to meet you next year!
